2. Website hosting and delivery

This website is built and hosted with Webflow, Inc., 398 11th Street, 2nd Floor, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA ("Webflow"). Webflow processes personal data on our behalf to deliver and secure the website.

When you access the site, technical connection data may be processed, including your IP address, date and time of access, requested page or file, referrer URL, browser and operating-system information, device details, and request or security logs. The purpose is to provide a stable, secure, and technically functional website. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the reliable and secure operation of ELSWHERE.

Webflow may use subprocessors and process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, transfers are protected by an applicable adequacy mechanism or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Details are available in Webflow's Data Processing Addendum and subprocessor list.

3. Audience survey and Webflow Forms

If you choose to take part in the ELSWHERE. audience survey, we process the answers you submit to understand our audience and improve editorial topics, formats, and communication. The current survey does not ask for your name or email address. It may also record the survey version and campaign parameters contained in the page URL (UTM source, medium, and campaign).

The form is submitted through Webflow Forms. Webflow may additionally process technical metadata such as IP address, submission time, browser information, and security signals in order to transmit the form and prevent misuse.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is voluntary, privacy-conscious audience research. Participation is optional. Survey responses are retained for no longer than 24 months and are then deleted or irreversibly aggregated, unless a longer period is required to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

4. Contact by email

When you contact us, we process the information you send, such as your name, email address, message, attachments, and related communication metadata, to answer your enquiry. If your message concerns a contract or steps requested before entering into a contract, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Otherwise, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.

We retain correspondence only for as long as needed to handle the matter and meet applicable legal record-keeping duties. Business correspondence may be retained for the statutory retention period.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

This legal-page embed does not set cookies or use browser storage. The website may use technologies that are strictly necessary to deliver forms, security, and core functionality. Where storage on or access to your device is strictly necessary, it is based on Section 25(2) TDDDG; the related processing of personal data is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Non-essential analytics, advertising, or external-media technologies are not activated without your prior consent where consent is legally required. In that case, the legal bases are Section 25(1) TDDDG and Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. The privacy-first YouTube player described below does not remember your decision: consent applies only when you actively load a video on the current page.

6. External links

ELSWHERE. may link to websites or social platforms operated by third parties. No data is transmitted to those services merely because a normal text link is displayed. If you follow a link, the third party is responsible for the processing that takes place on its service. Its own privacy terms apply.

7. Embedded YouTube videos

We embed videos from YouTube, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. The video player is blocked when the page first loads. No connection to YouTube is made through the player until you select “Load YouTube video.” A normal link that opens the video directly on YouTube is available as an alternative.

If you choose to load a video, your browser connects to YouTube. Google may then process your IP address, device and browser information, the referring page, video interactions, and cookies or similar identifiers. If you are signed in to Google, the interaction may be associated with your account. The purpose is to display the requested video. The legal bases are your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG. Loading the video may involve processing in the United States or other countries outside the EEA under the safeguards used by Google.

Because the player does not store your choice, reloading the page blocks YouTube again. This prevents future connections but cannot undo processing that already occurred after you loaded a video. More information is available in Google's Privacy Policy.

8. Recipients and disclosure

Personal data is disclosed only where necessary for the purposes described above, where required by law, or where you have consented. Recipients may include website hosting, form-processing, email, IT-security, and technical support providers acting under appropriate contractual safeguards, as well as public authorities where a legal obligation applies.

9. Retention

Unless a specific period is stated above, personal data is kept only as long as necessary for the relevant purpose. Data may then be retained where statutory obligations or limitation periods apply. Once those periods expire, the data is deleted or anonymised unless another lawful basis permits continued processing.

10. Your rights

Subject to the conditions of the GDPR, you may have the right to:

  • access your personal data (Article 15 GDPR);
  • rectify inaccurate data (Article 16 GDPR);
  • request erasure (Article 17 GDPR);
  • restrict processing (Article 18 GDPR);
  • receive data in a portable format (Article 20 GDPR);
  • object to processing based on Article 6(1)(e) or (f) GDPR (Article 21 GDPR); and
  • withdraw consent at any time for the future (Article 7(3) GDPR).

You may also lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority, particularly in the EU Member State of your habitual residence, place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement (Article 77 GDPR). To exercise your rights, contact us using the email address above.

11. Right to object

Where we process personal data on the basis of legitimate interests, you have the right to object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will stop processing unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights, and freedoms, or the processing is needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

12. Automated decision-making

ELSWHERE. does not use personal data collected through this website for decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects, and does not carry out such profiling.

13. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice when the website, its services, or legal requirements change. The current version and its update date will always be published here.
