A story shapes every decision
ELSWHERE. uses AI throughout its creative process: to assist with writing, explore characters and environments, generate footage, and produce the materials that introduce a film to its audience.
For a studio that currently consists of one person, these tools make it possible to carry an idea across more stages of production. A scene on the page can become a visual world, a character can take shape, and an imagined moment can become a moving image.
The purpose connecting those stages is communication. What should the audience feel? What does this character need to express? What should remain with someone after the film ends? Those questions guide how the tools are used and which results belong in the finished work.
From the first draft to the first impression
The process begins with writing. AI assists in exploring possibilities, questioning character motivations, testing dialogue, and identifying places where a scene needs more clarity. These exchanges support the development of the script; the creative responsibility remains with the person deciding what the story means and how it should unfold.
During visual development, AI helps give characters and environments a recognizable identity. Faces, clothing, architecture, landscapes, and lighting are explored in relation to the story. Each choice needs to feel connected to the same world—and reveal something about the people living in it.
That visual direction then carries into generating and rendering the movie’s footage. Images and sequences are selected, revised, and assembled through editing. Movement, pacing, sound, and the relationship between shots shape individual outputs into a film with emotional continuity.
The same approach extends to marketing and advertising. Posters, trailers, campaign imagery, and social content translate the film’s identity into a first encounter with its audience. They should communicate what makes the story worth entering while remaining faithful to the experience of watching it.
